Sunlight streamed through the trees and onto a light brown dirt path. Two sets of paw prints led down the hill and through the path and if you followed them, you'd come to a small opening in the trees that led to a big meadow with a rock cave, boulders and small rocks scattered about, and tall lanky grass that bent with the wind. Besides all of this, you could see two wolves, one laying on his side with his light pink tongue hanging out of his maw and the other in the tree above him looking down. Grant slid his paws up and stretched out a little, looking up at Maria who was watching him like an angel from above. Both of their pelts had finally dried from the fishing in the creek nearby which had almost resulted in Grant catching a toad in his mouth. Suddenly, there was a rustle in the brush nearby, just inside of the trees. Grant jumped up, the fur on the back of his neck spiraling up and his lip curving up in growl. A black flash streamed by his eyes all of a sudden and he was blinded. His yelp echoed throughout the blackness that he could see now and he curled up into a ball, not being able to see Maria, the stream, the sunlight, or anything for that matter. He closed his eyes without really wanting to and rolled over. It felt like he fell off of a ledge as he dropped down through the blackness and then landed on a flat surface, knocking his head on something hard.

Grant really awoke this time, his hair splayed out on his head from the fall and his covers all over the floor. He got up on his elbows and then on his knees, sitting up to see his alarm clock broken where his head had been and his room in ram shackles, that being no different then normal. He stood up and picked up the bundle of covers and piled them on his bed, setting the parts of the clock on his nightstand. This dream had come every night now and he felt like it meant something. Grant slipped off his white t-shirt and the jeans he had been wearing that last night and put on a tshirt with some new jeans and headed down the stairs. He had mentioned the dream to Russel a few times with only a grunt and "paranoid," grumble after three times. Grant picked up an apple on his way past the kitchen. He took a bite of it, hoping that Maria wasn't too upset he was late. She knew about the dreams too but she hadn't said much about them. Grant had a prickly feeling when he went down to the beach in his wolf form. It was almost like he knew there was some meadow there that they would discover someday. That would be the day that the darkness come, he suppposed. After arriving outside his cabin, he went around back and morphed, tying his clothes to his leg and heading towards the gigantic tree that towered over the others. It had been decided that they would meet there on the weekends each morning.

The gray and brown wolf made his way through all the tall grass and to the tree where he could see the smaller shape of Maria. Morning, sleeping beauty, he thought, seeing her eyes closed as the sunlight and wind played in her fur.

(yay.. some more werewolf stuff! I've been missing Grant! )

(I didn't even see this topic o.o Dang am I slow... And yeah, I was missing Maria too xD)

The sunlight felt so warm against her fur lately. She hadn't paid much mind to it ever since that happened and Nick was snatched away from them by that leech. But now it was a comforting warmth that surrounded and enclosed her in a gentle blanket that she gratefully accepted. The grass around her was still damp from the early morning dew, and she could feel an uncomfortable dampness on her back. Yet she didn't dare to move; the sunlight was just too welcoming.

Thoughts played at the back of her mind. She'd been waiting for Grant to show up here for a while; what if he forgot? What if he didn't like her anymore? Frantically, she tried to search for his thoughts, yet couldn't find anyone's. The silence there was almost uncomfortable; being in wolf form, she at least had Nick bantering on about something, annoying the heck out of her. A pang of hurt struck her heart, and she forced every single thought of him away. She wouldn't think of him any more. He'd chosen the vampire over his own packmates, and if he felt that way about them, then they shouldn't miss him, right? Easier said than done.

Maria closed her eyes against the glare of the sun above, and turned her head away from the sky. With her forepaws dangling in the air, she felt ridiculous, but the warmth felt so good against her underbelly that she simply didn't care. She opened one eye to look at the giant tree beside her. It'd been there her entire life, and now served as a meetup point for she and Grant. She smiled to herself and closed her eyes again, thinking about that one night Grant had taken her to the movies. Their first date. And afterwards, their first kiss. Why had she been so frantic earlier? Grant wouldn't forget about her; he was simply too nice to do that.

Morning, sleeping beauty, came his thought, and she opened her eyes to see none other than Grant himself standing before her. Maria rolled onto her belly and pushed herself up so that she was standing. Stretching and yawning at the same time, she reminded herself of a cat as she extended her forepaws ahead of her and her back end stuck up in the air. Almost had a feeling you weren't going to show up, she thought back playfully, returning to a standing position. She took a few steps toward him and nuzzled his neck gently, before meeting his gaze again. So what do you have in mind for today? she asked, her tail swaying slowly back and forth.

Grant tried to smirk best he could with a muzzle. Maria stood up, her soft fur realining itself on her pelt. It shone in the sunlight like silk and he breathed in her scent. After accepting her nuzzle, he shook out his fur and motioned with his head. I was thinking we could head over to the trail on the east side, he thought and added, we haven't been on that one for a while. He would always remember that trail for it's sunny paths, extensive greenry, and breathtaking sites.
Whenever his paws first stepped on the path he and Nick were only sixteen. Everyone around the camp knew them for their strong muslces espeically the elders who liked for them to move around their furniture once in a while. They would explore all over the camp and meet up with Maria, whenever they could. Grant had imprinted on her just a year earlier when they were both fully fledged wolves. It had been stunning to fall in love at the age of fifteen but it was like a silent secret between just the two of them. They had discovered the beautiful path when they were crossing around the campsite, sniffing around Nick's cabin for the coon that had been breaking into his trashcan at night. Maria had caught the scent near the entrance and they had all three followed it. They crossed rocks, greenery, dirt, more rocks, and then they all stopped dead in their tracks at the scene before them. The sun was just setting, the bottom golden rim slowly morphing into the horizan. It shone down on the ocean, leaving what seemed like little pawprints of satin gold as it dissappeared. Deer and other wildlife frolicked in the feild below them for they were sitting up on a small ledge. The coon was well forgotten until that night but Grant would always remember that evening: When the debris in the air looked like auric pixie dust and the stars came out the split second they were released from the sun's rays.

Grant followed Maria's lead to the trail just like before. His smile evaporated as he set eyes on Nick's cabin and he suddenly wondered where his best friend was and what he was thinking. Grant knew he always would as long as Nick wasn't apart of the pack. Maria's growl disturbed his thoughts and he padded over to the entrance where Maria was sitting patiently. Do you still remember that night when we found this? he asked curiously, jogging side by side with her up the path.
